Breaking news today India vs Bangladesh T20 series: Young Indian Team Thrashes Experienced Bangladesh – Arshdeep & Varun Shine in Dominant T20 Win

In the three-game T20I series opening match, Young Indian Team Thrashes Experienced Bangladesh – Arshdeep & Varun Shine in Dominant T20 Win. Despite fielding two debutants and only retaining three players from their T20 World Cup-winning side earlier this year, India proved too strong for Bangladesh, who had a familiar lineup from the World Cup.

Bangladesh’s troubles began early when Litton Das fell in the very first over to a poorly executed slog. From that point, they would always struggle on the slightly unpredictable Gwalior pitch, which had uneven bounce and was ideally suited to India’s precise bowling attack. Arshdeep Singh led the charge with early breakthroughs, while Mayank Yadav, playing his first international match, delivered a maiden over. Varun Chakravarthy, who was back on the team after three years, sliced through the middle order. Chasing just 128, India dominated and sealed the victory with plenty of time to spare—49 balls, to be exact.

Arshdeep Sets the Tone

Arshdeep, the leader of India’s bowling attack, once again showed why he’s quickly climbing India’s all-time wicket charts. He started with pinpoint accuracy, using just enough swing to keep Bangladesh’s young opener, Parvez Hossain Emon, in check. Although Das managed to slice a boundary off the first ball, it prompted a fielding change, with the third man moving back and a leg-side fielder coming up. On the very next ball, Das misjudged the angle and was caught out.

In his next over, Arshdeep dismissed Hossain, who had smashed Hardik Pandya for six. Hossain attempted to continue his aggression by dragging the ball onto his stumps. Bangladesh found themselves at 14 for 2 in just 2.1 overs.

Pace Meets Mystery

Already struggling, Bangladesh faced a daunting challenge in the form of high-speed deliveries from Mayank Yadav and the deceptive spin of Varun Chakravarthy. The combination of pace and mystery could have been better for a team looking to force the scoring rate. Bangladesh’s only hope seemed to be if the Indian bowlers were rusty—Mayank had not played competitive cricket since his injury during the IPL, and Varun was returning to international action after a long hiatus.

But any concerns about rust were quickly dismissed. Varun almost made an impact with his second delivery. Still, a dropped catch by fellow debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy, who lost sight of the ball in the stadium’s floodlights, gave Bangladesh a reprieve. Soon after, Mayank bowled a maiden over to cap off the powerplay, joining an exclusive club of Indian bowlers—only two others, including Arshdeep, have started their T20I careers with maiden overs. Mayank’s fast-tracking into the team was a testament to the confidence in him by the current selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar.

Both bowlers were rewarded for their efforts shortly after. Towhid Hridoy, who had survived that earlier dropped catch, pulled a Varun delivery straight to long-on, while Mahmudullah’s mistimed shot ended up in the hands of a deep point fielder off Mayank’s bowling. Bangladesh had to take these high-risk shots, as their scoring rate had stalled completely.

Varun continued to be a puzzle for the batters. He outfoxed Jaker Ali, who inside-edged one of his deliveries, and later trapped Rishad Hossain, who misjudged a delivery that took the outside edge.
