Former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders i.e. KKR and current mentor Gautam Gambhir has revealed what was his biggest regret during his captaincy. He has said that his only regret in his seven years of captaincy is about Suryakumar Yadav, because KKR never recognized his potential. At the same time, now Surya is the main batsman for Mumbai Indians. He has been playing for Mumbai Indians since 2018, but before that he was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders team from 2014 to 2017 and played many matches for them.

Let us tell you that Gautam Gambhir was a part of the KKR team at that time and the team won two titles in 2012 and 2014, but Gambhir has now admitted that not recognizing Surya's potential was his biggest regret. Surya became a part of Mumbai Indians in 2012, but he was released in 2013. He played only one match. After this Kolkata Knight Riders included him in their setup. The team won the title that same year. He played for the team for the next four years, but could score only 608 runs in the middle order in 54 matches. After this he was released.

Akshar Patel told the reason for the defeat of Delhi Capitals, said- We could have stopped RCB at 150, but…

Regarding Surya, Gambhir admitted on Sportskeeda that his biggest regret during his tenure as KKR captain was not recognizing Suryakumar's potential or his best batting position in the lineup. He said, “The role of a leader is to identify the best potential of the player and show it to the world. If I have any regret in my seven years of captaincy, it is that I and Suryakumar Yadav as a team did not realize their potential. The reason for this was that as a leader, you have to think about the other 10 players at number 3. Would have been effective, but was equally good at No. 7.”

Gambhir further said that Suryakumar Yadav is a team player. He was made the vice-captain of the team in 2015. Gautam Gambhir further added, “He was also a team man. Anyone can be a good player, but being a team man is a tough job. Whether you play him at No. 6 or 7 or put him on the bench, he is always smiling.” He was always ready to perform for the team. That's why we appointed him as vice-captain.” He came to Mumbai Indians and became known as a very good batsman, because by scoring runs there, he got a chance to play for Team India and today he is the number one batsman in T20 International cricket.
