Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir has made a big revelation about his captaincy days in the IPL. Gautam Gambhir has revealed the name of the player who came to him to ask for help if he could bring his girlfriend to the IPL? Gambhir told about the time of 2011-12, when Sunil Narine had just come to the IPL and spoke very little. Sunil Narine was the hero of KKR in the victory in IPL 2024. He scored 488 runs and took 17 wickets. He played under the captaincy of Gambhir.
In a recent interview, Gautam Gambhir has said that he and Sunil Narine are not friends, but both consider each other as brothers. Gambhir said that when KKR won the IPL in 2012 and 2014, Narine had performed well at that time too. Gambhir told Sportskeeda in an interview, “Narine and I are similar characters and our emotions are also similar.” Gambhir further told how Narine asked him if he could bring his girlfriend?

The former KKR captain said, “I still remember when Narine came to IPL for the first time in 2012, he was in Jaipur and we were going for practice and I asked him to come for lunch. He was so shy that he did not speak a single word during lunch and finally the first question he asked was, 'Can I bring my girlfriend to the IPL?'”
Gambhir further added, “He was very quiet in the first season, but now, we can talk about any topic. He is like a brother to me. I don't see him as a friend, I don't see him as a teammate, I see him as a brother. If I need him or he needs me, I feel we are just a call away, that's the kind of relationship we have built. We don't get too excited, we don't show too much emotion, we don't show off, we just do the job and come back.”
