IPL Brand Value report is out., Cricket News


IPL Brand Value: The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has recently ended and immediately after that the valuation of this league has come out. Global investment bank Houlihan Lokey has released the brand value study of IPL, which tells what is the brand value of IPL at present and how far the business of IPL has progressed. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has benefited greatly from the victory, while Mumbai Indians is no longer the biggest brand value in IPL. Chennai Super Kings has overtaken MI.

According to the report, the value of IPL as a business has increased by 6.5% to US $ 16.4 billion (about Rs 135,000 crore), which shows the continued strength and global appeal of the league. The stand-alone brand value of IPL has increased by 6.3% to $ 3.4 billion (about Rs 28,000 crore) compared to last year. Tata Group, the title sponsor for IPL, has secured around US $ 300 million (Rs 2500 crore) for the next five-year period from 2024 to 2028. Tata Group will give Rs 335 crore to IPL for each season. This is about 50% more than the previous deal. The sponsorship deal has also progressed so much due to the auction of media rights held last year, which also shows the strength of this league.

Franchise revenues have grown significantly over the past few years, driven primarily by revenue from media rights, while sponsor revenues for each team have grown from US$5 million to US$12 million (around Rs 100 crore). Qatar Airways signed a major deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore for a three-year contract worth around US$9 million (around Rs 75 crore). Similar deals have been made with other teams, but no deal of this magnitude has been made in this year's IPL.

In terms of valuation, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) remains the most valuable franchise with a brand value of USD 231 million (around Rs 1,928 crore) despite failing to make it to the IPL 2024 playoffs, registering a growth of 9% over the previous year. IPL 2024 winners Kolkata Knight Riders have recorded the highest growth with a 19.30% increase from 2023. KKR won the IPL title for the third time. In the final, KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in an almost one-sided match.

RCB is the second biggest team in IPL in terms of brand value, even though it has not won a single title, the team is still writing new dimensions in terms of business. The brand value of RCB is 227 million US dollars (about Rs 1,895 crore). Kolkata Knight Riders i.e. KKR team is the third biggest franchise in terms of brand value after winning the final of IPL 2024. The brand value of KKR is 216 million US dollars i.e. about Rs 1800 crore.

Five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians has not performed well in the last few seasons. In such a situation, MI's brand value has declined and the team has reached fourth place. MI's brand value is 204 million US dollars i.e. around Rs 1700 crore. Rajasthan Royals, the champion of the first season of IPL, has also maintained a good brand value. RR is the fifth largest franchise and its brand value is 133 million US dollars i.e. around Rs 1,110 crore after IPL 2024. This year's runner-up and 2016 champion team Sunrisers Hyderabad is at number six in the list. The current brand value of the team is slightly less than RR. SRH has a brand value of 132 million US dollars i.e. around Rs 1100 crore.


Other teams Delhi Capitals is at seventh place with a brand value of US $ 131 million i.e. around Rs 1,090 crore. Gujarat Titans is at eighth place with a brand value of US $ 124 million i.e. around Rs 1,035 crore. Punjab Kings (PBKS) has a brand value of US $ 101 million i.e. around Rs 843 crore and Lucknow Super Giants i.e. LSG has a brand value of US $ 91 million i.e. around Rs 759 crore.
