Kallis has been a part of KKR before. As a player, he won the IPL title in 2012 and 2014 under Gambhir's captaincy. Kallis has also been KKR's batting consultant in 2015. Apart from this, he was appointed head coach after Trevor Bayliss resigned to take over as England's head coach.
Kallis was the head coach of KKR for four Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons until 2019. He resigned from this position before joining the South Africa cricket team as a batting consultant.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Kallis could return to KKR's coaching setup and his name is also in the news.
“The franchise is looking for a replacement for Gambhir, who was instrumental in their team's third IPL title this year. The name of veteran South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who coached KKR in 2019, is also in the news,” the report added.
