Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper and opener Philip Salt is in amazing form in IPL 2024. He created havoc with his bat on Monday also. He played a stormy half-century against Delhi Capitals (GT) at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Salt scored 68 runs in 33 balls. He hit 7 fours and hit 5 sixes. He scored fifty in 26 balls. This is the sixth half-century of his IPL career. Salt has destroyed a record of former KKR captain Sourav Ganguly. He has become the highest run scorer in a season at Eden Gardens. So far Salt has scored 343 runs in six innings here. Ganguly had added 331 runs in seven innings in 2010.

He made a partnership of 79 runs for the first wicket with Sunil Narine (15 off 10 balls). Narine was dismissed by Akshar Patel on the first ball of the seventh over. Salt scored 60 runs in the powerplay (first 6 overs) and accomplished a special feat. He has become the highest run scorer for KKR in the powerplay. He has broken Naren's seven year old record. Narine had added 54 runs against RCB in 2017.

Salt has achieved another feat. He has reached fourth place in the list of players who have hit most sixes in the powerplay in the current season. He has hit 15 sixes so far in the powerplay. Ahead of him are Delhi Capitals' Jake Fraser-McGurk (16) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)'s Travis Head. SRH's Abhishek Sharma (19) is on top. Salt's innings against DC ended in the ninth over. Akshar bowled him. He was trying to play a shot by going on the back foot but missed the shot. KKR won by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining.
