This is the reason why teams want that the mega auction should be held once in five years. The reason behind this is that uncapped players are nurtured in two-three years and they go to another team in the mega auction. Apart from this, fan engagement and brand building are also affected.
Suggestion to retain 4 to 6 players

As happened before the 2022 mega auction. At that time, teams could retain 4-4 players with them. The franchises want something similar this time too, but some teams also say that 8 players should be allowed to be retained.
There is a problem in RTM
Another controversy related to the mega auction is that even if permission is given by IPL to retain one player, at least 8 players should be added through RTM i.e. Right to Match card. In this, the captain should be retained and any 8 players from those who played for the team in the previous season should be bought from the auction. However, some teams want that as many players as possible should be retained.
