In this the players of England are at the forefront. Captains Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Mark Wood, who play regularly in Test cricket, have already said that they will not be available to play in the IPL. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Harry Brook has also withdrawn his name, on which former cricketer Aakash Chopra has reacted and he believes that buying English players in the auction is a risky decision.
Aakash Chopra shared a post on social media on Wednesday, in which he informed the franchises about the risks of buying England players in the auction. Aakash Chopra tweeted, “Buy English players in the IPL auction at your own risk.”
If Harry Brook is also ruled out of the upcoming season, he will become the fourth English player to be ruled out of IPL 2024 recently. Before him, Mark Wood, Gus Attinckson and Jason Roy have withdrawn their names. He was bought by teams in the auction. However, the franchises are unhappy with the players withdrawing their names before the start of the tournament and may discuss the matter with the BCCI.
Harry Brook was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 for Rs 13.25 crore. However, due to poor form, the team released him before the IPL 2024 auction. Harry Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction.
