Big blow to Rajasthan Royals before IPL, home ground sealed

  • Rajasthan Sports Council sealed Sawai Man Singh Stadium
  • RCA has not fulfilled its obligations including outstanding payments
  • Council also sealed RCA office and academy

A month before IPL, Rajasthan Sports Council has sealed Sawai Man Singh Stadium. This action was taken after the council claimed that Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) had not fulfilled its obligations including outstanding payments. Apart from the stadium, the council has also sealed the RCA office and academy. According to the preliminary schedule, IPL matches are to be held in Jaipur on 24 and 28 March.

sent notices several times

Rajasthan Sports Council Secretary Sohan Ram Choudhary said on Friday that we had sent notices to RCA several times, but we have not received any response. He only replied to extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from eight years to 10 years. He has responsibilities and he has not met them.

the money has not been deposited

We had a meeting with RCB to find a solution to this issue. He had received around Rs 200 crore, but we were told that he had not received any amount. He had a lot of money during Rajasthan Premier League, but he did not follow the MOU and did not deposit the money. That's why we had to take this action.

IPL matches will be held

However, Chaudhary had assured that the stadium will host IPL matches and other matches to be held here. This is our place, which we have taken back. In this matter, RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot said that this is a politically motivated action. We were not given enough time to answer. Only Rs 8 crore is left and that matter is old. In that regard, suddenly sealing the premises before IPL shows political malice. We will consider this matter and take legal action.
