Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that even though Virat Kohli has scored a lot of runs while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, he is yet to overcome the challenge of MA Chidambaram Stadium. The first match of IPL 2024 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli is the highest run scorer in IPL. He has scored 7263 runs in 237 matches. During this period he has scored seven centuries and 50 half-centuries. In which his strike rate was 130. But in Chepauk his average is only 30 and strike rate is 111.
During the conversation in Star Sports show Game Plan, former cricketers Matthew Hayden and Harbhajan Singh discussed many important things regarding the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Harbhajan Singh said, “It is important for him (Virat Kohli) to repeat the 2016 season, because if Virat Kohli scores runs for them, it means that the team will go ahead. But I don't know whether they will win the cup or not but they have great people in their team—Virat Kohli, Maxwell, Green and Patidar. So I believe that he has good batting and everyone wants Virat Kohli to score a lot of runs this time too like in 2016. If this happens then he has a great opportunity to move forward.
Harbhajan said, “If we look at Virat's overall performance, his greatness has diminished in this stadium. This stadium is a bit difficult for batting, especially as an opener because there is strange bounce here.'' In fact, Kohli has been out in the powerplay three times in the last five innings against CSK and Harbhajan said that the star batsman will not get a long time. Have to find a way to bat for time. Kohli has not yet been able to score an IPL century at Chepauk.'' Virat Kohli had scored 973 runs in 16 matches in 2016, which included four centuries and seven half-centuries.
