According to the statement on the IPL website, the England wicketkeeper batsman has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for his reserve price of Rs 1.5 crore. “Kolkata Knight Riders have selected Phil Salt as the replacement for Jason Roy following his exit from the upcoming IPL 2024 due to personal reasons,” the IPL said in a statement. Salt represented Delhi Capitals last year. He remained unsold in the auction. This will be Salt's second IPL season.
Phil Salt had come to play in this league for the first time (IPL 2023). He played 9 matches for Delhi Capitals. During this period he scored 218 runs. His strike rate was 163.91. He scored the highest score of 87 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, after this he scored back to back centuries against West Indies. His century in the fourth match was the joint-fastest century by any England batsman in this format.
