Former Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar has fiercely targeted star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. He has criticized Hardik Pandya for not playing domestic cricket. Hardik Pandya was injured during the match against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup last year. He suffered an injury to his left ankle, which took about three months to heal. He played his first game during the DY Patil tournament, although the BCCI had instructed players to give priority to Ranji and other formats of domestic cricket if he is fit. But this did not happen in Hardik's case, yet he got a place in the central contract.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer ignored the board's instructions and did not play domestic cricket despite being fit, due to which both were dropped from the center contact. However, Hardik Pandya was given exemption in this matter, because he is not a part of all three formats. However, Hardik reportedly promised the board that if there is a window available outside his India commitments, he will come and play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy or Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Praveen Kumar said on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, “Has Hardik Pandya come down from the moon? He also has to play. Why are there different rules for that? BCCI should threaten him. Why play only domestic T20 tournaments (DY Patil)? Play all three formats. Or you have played 60-70 test matches or you will play only T20. The country needs you.

Hardik Pandya has not played a Test since 2018. However, he had hinted that his body was not completely fit to play the longest format of the game.

Praveen Kumar further said, “Give it in writing that I am not available for the test. Neither are you committing to it, nor are you completely backing out. BCCI should also be questioned. You can't bend the rules for one player. But I think there must have been a discussion. If they feel that Hardik is an important member in T20 and we do not want his fitness to be affected. Then it is okay either he or the player should be informed that he will be considered only for T20 and ODI and not for Test.
