England star batsman Harry Brook, who had earlier pulled out of the team's India tour in January 2024 due to personal reasons, has now pulled out of the Indian Premier League 2024 as well.

Brook was picked up by the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 mini-auction in December after being released earlier by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had paid Rs 13.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction.

Delhi Capitals are looking at other options to replace Brook. At the moment though they have been left gasping thinking about the late replacement.

Brook, who has been an integral part of the Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes-led England Test team, was not able to repay the amount of investment made in him by the Hyderabad franchise. Playing for SRH, the 25-year-old Englishman managed only 190 runs at a lowly average of 21.

Brook is not the first Englishman to dishonor his contract citing personal reasons in the IPL. The likes of Alex Hales, Jason Roy and Ben Stokes have done it previously. This is a huge problem for the IPL teams and they want to be addressed soon by BCCI, the parent body of the IPL.

“Once players register for the auction, they should honor their commitment. Reneging on it is unprofessional, and the BCCI should address this.” Cricbuzz quoted a franchise official as saying.
