Regarding Dhoni's retirement, Parthiv Patel said on GeoCinema, “Coming to play once every 10 months, every time we talk about that these two months are his (Dhoni's) last months of cricket… That's a question only he can answer.”

Parthiv also stressed that this season will prove to be another big test for MS Dhoni's batting ability given the lack of competitive cricket.
Dhoni had scored only 104 runs in the 16 matches played in the last season of IPL with an average of 26. However, Dhoni played some impressive innings in the season with a strike rate of 182.46. Dhoni certainly looked a little backward in batting, but his captaincy was number-1. This is the reason CSK became champion for a record 5th time.
Parthiv further added, “During these 16 IPL seasons, we have seen big names struggling in the tournament who have not played much domestic or any other format of cricket… We have seen players like Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist Have seen this happen.”
